We have seen the overview of what an Office suite is, and we being introduced to an Office suite using Microsoft office 2007 System as an example. If you have studied the post about an Office suite you will recalled that an Office suite contains at least three typical packages/Suites inside it, namely:

1. Word processor;
2. Spreadsheet; and
3. Presentation programme.

Also we used Microsoft Office Suite (Specifically Office 2007 System) as an example. You will discover that the Microsoft Office 2007 System has many package within it. Their are three basic package of a Microsoft Office (2007 or any other version), viz:

1. Microsoft word;
2. Microsoft Excel; and
3. Microsoft PowerPoint.

This three Microsoft Office package/programme corresponds to the three basic Office suite: Word processor, Spreadsheet and presentation. Every other package within an Office suite might be the combination of these three basic ones. It now your choice to go through them again: the Basic Office suite and Microsoft Office 2007 System in other to know what they are and other programme within the suite and their uses.

In this post I will provide you with the E-book that will introduce you to Microsoft Office 2007 System. The E-book is in Microsoft PowerPoint file format .pot. So to use the E-book you need to have Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 ( or an earlier or later version of office system) installed on your personal computer (PC). If you have this programme already installed on your PC no need to reinstall them again.

To check if you have Microsoft PowerPoint on your PC; go through the steps that you normally use when you are looking (searching) for a file or other programme in your PC. If you are using Microsoft Windows 7 or Vista follow these steps:
1. Click on the Start button. You will see a small search bar on the window that opens to this click effect.

2. Inside the search bar type either 1 of the follwoing: Microsoft, PowerPoint, Microsoft PowerPoint or Office.
3. You shall see Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 (or another version other than 2007) at the top most of your search result under Programs.
4. If not you dont have Microsoft Office (PowerPoint is) on your PC. You need to install it.
If you are using Windows 8 or 8.1, follow this steps

An office suite is a collection of bundled productivity software intended to be used by knowledge workers. The components are generally distributed together, have a consistent user interface and usually can interact with each other, sometimes in ways that the operating system would not normally allow.

A productivity software is an application software dedicated to producing information, such as documents, presentations, worksheets, databases, charts, graphs, digital paintings, electronic music and digital video.

A word processor is an electric or electronic device, or computer software application, that, as directed by the user, performs word processing: the composition, editing, formatting, and sometimes printing of any sort of written material. Word processing can also refer to advanced shorthand techniques, sometimes used in specialized contexts with a specially modified typewriter. Word processors have a variety of uses and applications within the:
business world – for preparing legal copies, letters and letterhead, memos, reference documents etc.
home - dealing with school assignments or work being completed at home, to create résumés and greeting cards, etc. education, journalism, publishing, and literary arts makes use of word processors. Examples of a word processor is Microsoft word and Kingsoft writer.

A spreadsheet is an interactive computer application program for organization, analysis and storage of data in tabular form. The program operates on data represented as cells of an array, organized in rows and columns. Each cell of the array is a model–view–controller element that may contain either numeric or text data, or the results of formulas that automatically calculate and display a value based on the contents of other cells.
Besides performing basic arithmetic and mathematical functions, modern spreadsheets provide built-in functions for common financial and statistical operations.

Spreadsheets have replaced paper-based systems throughout the business world. Although they were first developed for accounting or bookkeeping tasks, they now are used extensively in any context where tabular lists are built, sorted, and shared. Examples of a Spreadsheet is Microsoft Excel and Kingsoft spreadsheet.

A presentation program is a software package used to display information in the form of a slide show. It has three major functions: an editor that allows text to be inserted and formatted, a method for inserting and manipulating graphic images, and a slide-show system to display the content.

A slide show is a presentation of a series of still images on a projection screen or electronic display device, typically in a prearranged sequence. Each image is usually displayed for at least a few seconds, and sometimes for several minutes, before it is replaced by the next image. The changes may be automatic and at regular intervals or they may be manually controlled by a presenter or the viewer. Slide shows originally consisted of a series of individual photographic slides projected onto a screen with a slide projector. When referring to the video or computer-based visual equivalent, in which the slides are not individual physical objects, the term is often written as one word, slideshow. It may be used for presentation of lecture within and outside organisation etc. Examples of Presentation programme is Microsoft PowerPoint and Kingsoft presentation.

If you are hear because you want to lean Microsoft Word, Excel PowerPoint etc, then you are at the right place! This tutorial will teach all the package available in Microsoft Office 2007. Microsoft Office is an office suite of desktop applications, servers and services for Microsoft Windows and OS X operating systems. It was first announced by Bill Gates of Microsoft on 1 August 1988 at COMDEX in Las Vegas. Initially a marketing term for a bundled set of applications, the first version of Office contained Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.

Existing office suites contain wide range of various components. Most typically, the base components include:

1. Word processors – e.g. Microsoft word
2. Spreadsheets – e.g. Microsoft excel
3. Presentation programs – e.g Microsoft PowerPoint

Whichever profession you are practicing you need to know at least these three office suit; Word processor, Spreadsheets and Presentation Programme or their equivalent. Why? Because if you don’t have your own computer by now you will later own one and you are the one that will be making use of it. Each time you want to change something in your document, date say, or you want to unbold parts of the document, perhaps you password, you will not be calling someone to do it for you. If not it is useless that you keep the computer to yourself. I suggest you give it to some else or the person that helps you to make the adjustments.

Brief Descriptions of the Microsoft Office System

Microsoft Word is a word processor and was previously considered the main program in Office. Microsoft Office 2007 uses the new the XML-based. Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a markup language that defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format which is both human-readable and machine-readable. It is available for the Windows and OS X platforms. The file extension of Microsoft word are:

.dcox - Word document
.docm - Word Macro-enabled document
.dotx - Word Template
.dotm - Word Macro-enabled template
.docb – Word binary document

Computer/Electronics Circuit
There are different types of computers with different functions, speed and sizes. The computer that is use for business is different from that use for scientific work. Base on these differences computers are designed to suit the area of life it will be used. The area a computer will be used give rise to different configuration and designs of computers.

Computer architecture is the study that deals with analysis, design and configuration of computer system and what feature should be included.

Computer architecture covers computer systems, microprocessors, circuits, and system programs. Because of that computer science, computer engineering and electronics engineering fields overlaps extensively in computer architecture.

There are many definitions of computer architecture and these definitions are sometimes classified in different perspectives of the computer system. These perspectives may be that computer architecture is defined as:

Perspectives of Computer Architecture:

1. Hardware;
2. Software;
3. Hardware/Software;
4. Interface; OR
5. Integrated design

Literally, architecture as a word deals with the construction and designing of something. The something may be building, machine etc, but for the sake of our discussion here it is computers.
The hardware perspective defines computer architecture to be fully hardware – that is the design and the interconnection of hardware components. The software perspective defines computer architecture to be software only – that is the design and linking of computer software. The Hardware/Software perspective defines computer architecture to be fully hardware and software. The Interface perspective defines computer architecture to be that particular piece of design that connects computer hardware and software together. In other words it is the surface between the hardware and the software. The integrated design perspective defines computer architecture to be that particular design that incorporates both the hardware and the software.

Different between the hardware/software and the integrated design perspective:

The hardware/Software tends to design software differently and hardware differently. It is like designing concurrently a new software or hardware for a new hardware or software. While;
The integrated design does its design as one job. One can’t really differentiate if it is the hardware or the software that is being design. That is the hardware and the software is incorporated in the design as a whole.

Definitions of Computer Architecture

1. Computer architecture is the art of assembling logical elements into a computing device; the specification of the relation between parts of a computer system.

2. Computer architecture is the structure and organization of a computer's hardware or system software.

3. Computer architecture is a general term referring to the structure of all or part of a computer system.

4. Computer Architecture deals with both the design of computer components (hardware) and the creation of operating systems (software) to control the computer.

5. Computer architecture is the internal structure of a digital computer, encompassing the design and layout of its instruction set and storage registers.

6. Computer architecture defines how to command a processor.

7. Computer architecture defined as the science and art of selecting and interconnecting hardware components to create computers that meet functional, performance and cost goals.

8. In electronics engineering and computer engineering, computer architecture is a set of disciplines that describes a computer system by specifying its parts and their relations. For example, at a high level, computer architecture may be concerned with how the central processing unit (CPU) acts and how it uses computer memory.

9. Computer architecture is the structure, behaviour, and design of computers.

10. Computer architecture is a specification detailing how a set of software and hardware technology standards interact to form a computer system or platform. In short, computer architecture refers to how a computer system is designed and what technologies it is compatible with.

11. Computer architecture deals with how to design a circuit for a particular hardware.

12. Computer architecture refers to those attributes of a system visible to a programmer or, put another way, those attributes that have a direct impact on the logical execution of a programme.

14. In the context of software and electronic systems, an architecture is a particular arrangement of various hardware and software components that makes up a unique system.

15. The design of a computer and its components. This includes for which purposes it can be used, along with its memory and processing requirements and capabilities. This in turn affects variables such as what software may be used with it, and which peripherals are compatible. Also called architecture (2), or computer system architecture.

These definitions can be classify according to the aforementioned perspectives: for instance. definitions 11 and 15 are hardware and hardware/software perspectives respectively. what do you think about the rest?
