Hostel/Accommodation: After step 1 below you can apply for hostel using the same procedure you use when paying for other fees like school fee and acceptance fee.
1. Matriculation Number
Once you scale through (i.e. your documents dully validated) then the next thing you will be expecting is your Matriculation Number; a student unique identification number generated by the University; which is tied to the student’s jamb registration number. It will be issued a week after your clearance. It may take longer, sometimes more than two months.
To check for yours own registration number/matriculation number visit the University portal: www.unnportal.com, and login by providing your jamb registration and unn as the password. Check under your profile. It is of this format YYYY/XXXXXX, where YYYY is the year the student was admitted and XXXXXX is the unique identification numbers separated with forward slash (/). The first two digits (XX) may be the same with the entire students admitted for that year while the last four (XXXX) digits vary from student to students. e.g 2014/123456.
2. School fee Receipt
When you have gotten your registration/matriculation number, you need to reprint your school fee receipt from your portal, because it will have the matriculation number on it. Proceed to your faculty with the new printed receipt for verification and signing.
3. Folders/Files
Once
succeeded in 2 above, you will be giving three (3) folders/files which contains
other the same documents/files/forms in each.
i.
The first file belong to your department
ii.
The second belong to your faculty while
iii.
The third belong to the school (Registrar)
You are
required to filled them, arrange the files in a particular order and return all
the three folders/files to your Faculty.
4. Academic Adviser
Immediately step three is complete, the next step is to get an academic adviser. An academic adviser is lecturer in your department who will be looking after your advising you academically and trying to solve any problem that may arise. He/she will be the one to be signing you course registration forms each semester. All you need to do is to go to your department, enter the general office and tell who ever is that you are a first year student, that need an academic adviser. The person will tell you the next step to follow.
